Smack Booster Alternative- Co-Axial single cell Electrolizer

This is an altermative design to the Smack Booster. It’s a single cell Hydrogen Electrolizer. It uses a thick walled stainless steel (316L) co-axial electrode set up. Although much smaller than the Smack Booster, it seems to produce more Hydrogen Gas in our crude, preliminary bench tests. Our test procedure may be flawed but we used the same apparatus for the Smack Booster and our Co-Axial design. Please spare us your negative comments! We heard it all! exactly what I am doing also! I get great production from very low power. I am using 3 sets of alumin pipe 12 inches long largest outer diameter is 1.5 inches. I drilled port holes to increase exchange rate of h20 and gas. I am going to attempt a third pipe or rod inside to go positve negative positve and also try a neutral. I thought of it after seeing stan meyers design. I wish I had the tools and stock you guys have, any suggestions where to get good materials

This is why YOU DA MAN and I’m still a hack!

LOL! This was not intended as a serious “booster” to work in a car. It was built more as a science experiment. We did explode balloons with it and lit the bubbles with a torch, so it is producing Hydrogen.

Hey what’s this about you going from KOH to NaOH? What’s-his-name says NaOH don’t mix with the PVC.

What are you using now for electrolyte?

Sorry stony – but you are dead wrong. Vacuum lowers the boiling point of the electrolyte. Your unit already generates to much heat due to the high applied voltage. Anything over 2V just creates heat. So you have a steam generator on your hands, and the volume output is sabotaged with water vapor/steam. Thats the mist you see in the video. Never run a booster on vacuum, especially if it generates heat.

Pound for pound, the Smack Booster produces the most gas per amp.

I’m “tweaking” my Smack Booster a little for my cars use.

This was designed only as a demo to show people how to separate water into Hydrogen and Oxygen.

The design also lends it’s self to experimenting with the electrolyte mixture in relation to the gap (which is easily adjustable) to use a varying amperage.

I also chose to work with 1 1/2″ plumbing just for the lower expense.

Yes, a “6 pack” would be cool!

Hi try to make 6 of these and hook them in siries. they need not be as tall hence setup will be smaller. consider 2volts per cell so 6 will handle 12volts. Who knows maybe you could run car off water only with say a production of about 4-5 LPM. Happy findings

We were criticized for our test setup that some said was “siphoning” our displacement jug. Our system is totally air tight! Any “siphoning” action only replicates us using the electrolizer hooked to a vacuum. While some thought our test was “flawed” it was actually more accurate. When you hook a vacuum to the booster you “suck” more gas out of it, since there is NO air leak or alternative air supply … it’s ALL gas! The vacuum helps facilitate the gas production. Our test WAS- 2L per minute!

I use a two quart strait sided pitcher..cut the bottom off a two liter bottle mark off three 1500 ML with lines and dashes- remove the lid-let the bottle sink into the pitcher tighten the lid. pipe the gas into the bottom center of the pitcher thru a sidewall. If the pitcher is at a slight incline away from the bottle ad a slit hose around the top. The bottle will rise straight upward. You can compare your volume lines with the water level To reset, take off the lid-replace and start again.

Smack! You are the king of Hydrogen Boosters! YOU are responsible for many many people getting on board! God Bless the work you have done and for sharing information. You did notice our “Smack Booster” on the bench next to mine in the video. I only used this thick walled tubing design so I could tap the outer “conductor” and use threaded nylon screws to adjust the aperture for experimenting. BUT when we fired it up, with the electrolyte mis-adjusted this thing puked Hydrogen gas! It got HOT!

I designed this by accident! I never started out to build a high-output electrolizer. I only intended to build a small, easy, good looking (LOL!) unit to use for teaching and demonstrating. Yesterday I used a weaker electrolizer and operated it for a long time (hours) at 6 amps and it put out about 1/3 what the Smack Booster puts out. I suppose you could string three of these together. I DO believe that the co-axial design is the way to go! ALA Stan Myers. My design has an adjustable aperture!

good lookin’ unit for sure! was wondering if u thought about building multi cells & pulsing (not high frequency but distribute the energy like a distributor 2- 4 units). Ive noticed a small delay when the power is cut & when the production stops. am working on a design that would do that, hope is that I can double production with the SAME hi amp output but control the heat (via the delay). Next step would be to run a radiator on the electrogreat video!!

I used sulphuric acid for the electrolyte.
We measured 2 liters per minute, but at between 40 and 60 amps, and it did get hot.

Today I just added enough electrolyte to draw 6 amps and ran it a while. It stayed cool, BUT predictably the gas output drooped quite a bit.
NOTE: I was not trying to design or invent an electrolizer or to make a practical unit.
I was simply trying to make something to split water with materials I had laying around the shop. The gas output surprised us!

BTW that’s no steam, even if it looks like.
it’s a kind of ‘fog’ caused by the fizzing hho bubbles. if you open a coke can there is also a fog like that. I don’t think that coke steams, SirDave144.

We are getting Hydrogen gas. One test we did is put the end of the tube in a bucket of water and ignite the bubbles!
It did in fact run hot, and we are hoping that by reducing our electrolyte we might be able to get the amps down.
Unfortunately when we dissembled the unit after the first test, we found metal chips in the gap between the two tubes. It MAY have bee shorting or nearly shorting the two electrodes (Cathode and Anode).

This is only our very first preliminary test of this!

12 Volts across a single gap will probably boil water more than generating hydrogen / hydroxy gasses.

The attempt is worthy of praise, the result seems less worthy.

Part of the test *must* be to see if the gas is flammable, steam is not flammable.

OK better explanation of your cell and no coments bashing Smack . To run your displacement right run the exhaust tube inside a 1-2l bottle and fill it with water put it upside down un a bucket and turn it on and use a stop watch. Film it and post your findings . Over all this cell looks to work fine , Try using 2 table spoons of KOH inthe water .

Did you calculate how much hydroxy you made. I think a Smack unit gets about 1.7 to 2.0L/min.

Even though you say the test procedure and electrolyte was wrong, what were your results?
