The problem is even though hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe, the only economically feasable way to get it is from hydrocarbons like natural gas. When someone figures out how to make an engine that can get it from water, then we`re talking.

Maybe because this was produced in 1978. Do you think petrolium engineers don’t know what hydrogen is? Gasoline is explosive, but hydrogen, holy crap; you want to see disaster films, just wait till people are driving around with liquid hydrogen in their tanks. This will be steven speilbergs wet dream.

The funny thing is… people keep saying that the oil industry didn’t suppress this. Hrm… then why when the CARB board reneged on the electric car plan did the Auto Industry and Big Oil lobby for Hydrogen Fuel Cell vehicles? Good point, but the same applies. NiMH batteries are made of metals that would be in short supply if they were in millions of vehicles. The price would skyrocket. Look what has happened to the price of corn after we started using it to stretch gasoline. The price of corn went up and the price of food to the very poor rises, too.

You said LEAD but what about NiMH? Whats the big cost of alt energy techs vs what we give oil corps&arabs all inclusively each decade? “NiMH batteries typically last the life of the vehicle. Toyota Prius vehicles can go over 190,000 mi without needing a battery replacement.
